GovCollab was formed in 2009 by Ken Fischer to help create a more effective, accountable and open government through the use of innovative technologies utilizing participatory and collaborative methods. To do this, we create events such as workshops and symposiums to help the ope n government process by helping government employees and those who support the government identify practical steps they can take to move toward a more effective and open government. Technology can enable or complicate and we attempt to identify technologies and ways to use them which can enable this vision of more effective, transparent and accountable government. Topics of particular interest are:
- Building Better Government Websites to inform and serve the public.
- How to use social media in government settings effectively and securely.
- How new technologies such as mobile devices can enable government to better serve the public and allow them to participate.
- How crowdsourcing, contest and knowledge aggregation can better enable government in carrying our its missions.
GovCollab helps create training around social media in Government but does not speak for US federal, state or local governments.
